Golf Trip Packing List: What Items To Pack
You’ve picked your flights. Tee times are booked. Handicaps are properly inflated. Everything is ready for the golfing trip of a lifetime.
Except for your golf bag.
Here, you’ll find a golf trip packing list that gives you everything you need to show up with confidence that not only are all your clubs in the bag, but you’ve got enough polos, pants, shorts, golf balls, tees, and everything else to last the long weekend.
Let’s get you packed so you can focus on going low.
Packing for a golf trip: the essentials
Start with the most obvious: golf clubs.
The limit of golf clubs in your bag is fourteen, so make sure you stay below that (though, let’s be honest, if you have a friend who’s calling you out for carrying too many golf clubs, that’s probably not the person you want to travel with for golf).
Here are the clubs you need to check off the list:
- Golf ball retriever (for those of you who have no shame)
In addition to actual clubs in the bag, here’s an all-encompassing golf equipment list:
- Golf balls (1-2 dozen depending on your skill level, no offense)
- Golf gloves
- Ball marker
- Range finder
- Water bottle
While it’s helpful to have extras of all of the above, it’s worth noting that these are also great souvenirs for a golf trip. So if you’re heading to a bucket list golf course, we’d strongly recommend picking up an Old Course ball marker, a Pebble Beach towel, or a Pinehurst headcover. There’s nothing wrong with having a little something on the golf travel bag that lets the people know where you’ve been.
Packing for warm weather golf trips
Traveling to Myrtle Beach for golf is different from what you need to pack for a Scotland golf trip. Although the latter is going to include a lot from the former, let’s start with the sunny trip.
Warm weather golf trip packing list
The quantity of each is going to depend on how many rounds of golf you’re playing, but these golf clothes should take up the most space in your golf travel bag:
- Golf shirts or polos like the Versa Performance Polo
- Casual shorts for lounging at night
- Pants with breathable fabric
- Lightweight pullover for cooler weather
- Athletic underwear
- Casual shoes for lodging near the course
- Golf shoes and cleaning supplies
- Hats with a wide brim
- Sunscreen (the higher SPF, the better)
Yes, some of these things you can buy when you get there and some of these things make for great souvenirs. But if there’s ever a time to have your lucky golf polo packed, a golf trip is it.
What to pack for a cold weather golf trip
Speaking of luck, if you’re planning what to bring on your Ireland golf trip, then be warned: you will experience every single kind of weather out there. Rain, shine, wind, and hail can all happen just on the front nine.

So, in addition to everything we listed above, here’s what else you’ll need:
- Rain gear (tops and bottoms)
- Umbrella (easy to store in the golf cart)
- Warm base layer (compression shirt)
- Lightweight pullover for layering
- Extra socks (you can’t have too many socks)
The secret to surviving golf in the elements is all about layering. The more you have to put on and take off, the better prepared you’ll be. And make sure to check the weather before stepping out for the day.
Looking your best for your golf trip
No matter where you go or what you pack, you’re going to want to look good out there on the course. Keep in mind that a picture of the foursome from your golf trip is the type of image that will sit in your office for years.
